We want you to feel as part of the St. Augustine Community! That only happens when you get to know the people and the staff at the church, but furthermore, it happens as you find your place to serve the Lord and make a difference in the lives of others whether in liturgical assembly, sacraments, or other charitable works. We have many ministries in the church that exist to serve those who attend our church and our local community.
Please contact Rachel Torres at the church office (520) 623-6351 x1085 to become a volunteer, or for information on how you can become a volunteer in any of these ministries.

Ministers of the Word or Lectors
Those who proclaim God's word in the liturgy are known as Ministers of the Word or Lectors. When you answer the call to be a Lector, you enter a deeper relationship with God revealed in sacred scripture. You take upon yourself the awesome duty and privilege of bringing the printed word to life, making it flesh!
The Lector proclaims God's word to the assembled faith community. This ministry is a simple one; however, it does not mean that it's easy to do well or requires little energy or effort!
Lectors proclaim the sacred scripture readings for Sunday, daily, and Holy Day Masses.
Lectors are required to attend a training session at least once a year.

St. Vincent De Paul Society
About St. Vincent de Paul: To assist the needs of the registered members of the community within the St. Augustine Cathedral boundaries.
Services provided include food pantry, food gift cards, financial assistance for housing or utilities, and furniture through the St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Store.
Requests for assistance may be made in person to the church or most commonly through an established phone line. Members of St. Vincent have the responsibility to respond to the calls received. After gathering pertinent information on the call, a team of two members make home visits to identify the needs of the requestor. The team members will gather information and bring requests to the group for discussion and decision making.
St. Vincent de Paul funding is by donation of church members. We are working on identifying fundraising activities to be able to fund our program.
Membership: We continue to look for interested members to join us in this very worthy ministry of helping the needs of the community. Please leave a message for Josefina Valenzuela at the office at: 520-623-6351.
Usher & Greeter Society
We are now recruiting men & women for a rewarding spiritual and uplifting experience as liturgical ministers Usher or Greeter serving in God's house. Those who desire to serve as ministers of hospitality should be active and faithful members of the Church. Ushering is an opportunity to serve God by serving His people and is a marvelous way to actively and faithfully participate in Mass.
The heart of an usher is the heart of a servant, and he does his work for his Lord Jesus. A church usher has a true love for the people of the church. If you desire to promote an atmosphere of reverence and worship in the house of God, please leave a message for Joe Orantez at the parish office or for more information at 520-623-6351.
